Niels Kruize, CEOMolGen was founded to streamline testing, sample collection and high throughput workflows. As MolGen grew it became known as an innovative extraction, hardware, reagents and consumables provider.
MolGen’s latest innovation is a non-invasive solution sampling method that allows people to just rinse water in their mouth (like mouth water) and spit it back in a tube. This easy sample collection method encourages both symptomatic and asymptomatic people to frequently tests. This enables professional laboratories to increase capacity for SARS-CoV-2 testing.
“When we started MolGen, our goal was to be disruptive in the area of DNA/RNA extraction by bringing in cost-efficient, innovative technology. The pandemic made us realize that professional laboratories do not want a standalone product; they need a solution with the hardware, the software, the reagents, and the consumables—all in one place,” says Niels Kruize, CEO, MolGen.
MolGen also offers lower cost high throughput diagnostics for Influenza A virus, Influenza B virus, and respiratory syncytial viruses (RSV) type A and type B.
MolGen’s automated workflow process had made transferring sample to micro titer plates much safer while avoiding manual errors.
MolGen has automated this process by using simple robotic arms that pick up a tube, optically scan the barcode, decap and transfer the liquid to the testing plate. For delivering results, MolGen offers AI-powered software that interprets vast data sets quickly and effectively. This minimizes the risk of errors.
With a workflow that is scalable, we are lowering the cost for diagnostics and increasing the throughput
“With a workflow that is scalable, we are lowering the cost for diagnostics and increasing the throughput,” says Kruize.
Many laboratories today utilize MolGen’s innovative solution to address their needs. For instance, one of its clients struggled to manage the increasing inflow of samples due to lack of adequate staffing. MolGen’s automated systems scanned barcodes, opened and closed tubes safely, and transferred samples into testing plates. As a result, the client automated repetitive workflows enabling lab technicians to focus on other tasks.
MolGen’s continuously focusses on automation to allow clients to achieve high throughput and cost-efficient results. The company will keep adding innovating products to the workflow, empowering future diagnostics.
